Massachusetts Attorney General

Harshbarger to address Fall Seminar

Massachusetts Attorney General Scott Harshbarger will address the annual Fall Seminar of the Massachusetts Press Association at 10 a.m. Friday Oct. 3 in the New School of Management building at Boston University.

Harsbarger, the state's chief law enforcement officer, is also a leading candidate for the Democratic nomination for governor.

He will speak about enforcement of open record laws, in particular the Police Log Law, an MPA priority; his role in the class action lawsuit against the major tobacco companies; his legislative priorities and his campaign for governor.

After his prepared remarks, Harshbarger will open the floor to a question and answer session.

Unlike past seminars, no pre-registration is necessary. The event is free and open to the public.

"This is a terrific opportunity for Mass Press members to directly ask the Attorney General about his legislative agenda, the campaign for governor and, most importantly to MPA, the police log law," said Paul Pronovost, Editor of the Country Gazette newspaper in Franklin and organizer of the Fall Seminar.

"Due to the special nature of this seminar," added Pronovost, MPA Vice President, "We've taken the unusual step of making this seminar free of charge, so please take advantage of it."

The seminar will start promptly at 10 a.m. in the NSM Auditorium, Room 105, 595 Commonwealth Ave., Boston. The site is on the north side of Commonwealth Avenue, not far from the Kenmore Square Green Line station. There are also several parking lots and metered spaces nearby.
